The Broadband Pipe Has Burst Into Otley .....
Thanks to Tony Barrett for pointing this out ...

Ever since the news that BT's main objective was to deliver their Broadband network to as many people as possible over 2003 - 2005 I myself have been waiting for our little community here to become wired to the network. The excitement grew as villages like Tuddenham then Grundisburgh got connected, then Swilland, it got closer and closer and then BANG! It was here, our exchange to be broadband enabled in August 2004, but try as I did my number still showed that Otley ‘well my little patch of it’ might be able to squeeze a 256k Broadband link but then I may just be a little too far from the exchange so maybe not!

As I know from working under contract to BT, they are really working hard to push the envelope of technology. ‘And so they should’ as it is my impression that BT ‘well BTexact’, have banked all their hopes and aspirations on the success of Broadband and later the various technologies that can take advantage of that medium.

So today after receiving a message in our Guest book from Tony, I checked again and it would appear that I could now have up to 1Mb Broadband delivered to my home. ‘That will make my 64k Home Highway ISDN look a little silly’.

So all I’ve got to do now is decide who provides the best package for my needs and at the best ‘cost effective’ subscription! Well Demon.net has served me well for some time now maybe there’s value in loyalty? But maybe that’s a discussion for another day …………

Laurie

BIG BAND back to Otley
The Horn Factory Big Band will be returning to Otley Village Hall on Friday 13th June. Don't be put off by the date, their performances will leave you with no reservations as they perform numbers that range from Latin American to modern numbers in the style of Phil Collins.

The event is in aid of Otley Church Preservation Trust, and there will even be a licensed bar in the hall.
Tickets cost £7.00 each and are available from Jonathan Farnhill on 01473 890543 (as this is a popular gig it would pay to book early as possible to save disappointment).

The Otley Post Office Store is shortly to open a new "walk in" plant store behind the shop. If the plant store takes off in the same way as did the "Hot Food" then were in for a busy summer"
So watch this space for an in depth artical comming soon!.
